This truck was piled high with cut pieces of wood, to be delivered to people’s homes for use as fuel for their cooking fires.
Just about all trucks (and other vehicles) are decorated in India, which is something I love – something otherwise ordinary and ugly made beautiful. And I love the way that this decoration is done by hand and that the mark of person is always there. In my country it seems that imagery has to always be perfect and digital, and that the mark of the individual is taken away. Of course there’s a lot of this type of imagery in India too, but there’s still an abundance of the personal and the hand-created.
